Just some brief words on what will be accepted in this community. It’s really quite simple- everything that has to do with the 17th century, which means the years 1600-1699. I admit that there can be some fuzziness in that definition. For example, a person depicted may have been born or died in another century. A portrait of a historical person is only accepted if it depicts that person during the 17th century and not because s/he lived parts of their life in the 1600’s. So if your deviation isn’t accepted, it will not be because of the quality, but because it doesn’t fit the time period.

With that said, I will take the opportunity to wish you all a great 2011! I hope to see more of your work in the future!

We aren't allowed to create that many groups, on Yahoo one could had created as many has they liked too but on here it's so limiting. It's why some group owners properly desire to expand their group because of said restriction in place.

There is so many things I love to create a group for but I am stuck with creating a place in the favorites for it instead. I feel a group's main folder should stick to the group's namesake but the other folders should be allowed more freedom.

We have our own opinions, but I am not going to create other profile just to have a some new groups. I feel there is nothing wrong with a group desiring to expand itself. Just have everything in the right folder.

I really like how specific you're being - I'm so peeved with one of the groups I belong to that accepts stuff from loads of periods that are not what the group is called! In fact it's bugged me so much I don't even look at the deviations for that group any more!

Yes, it annoys me too. There will always be a grey zone and I hope I will be more generous than narrow, but deviations that clearly doesn't belong will not be accepeted, however lovely they may be

I can live with shades of grey it;s when people want to post things like medieval and Victorian in a group labelled 17th century that is really inappropriate, and one of the (Victorian) groups I belong to regularly accept 18th century stuff - personally, if it was my group, I wouldn't accept anything that wasn't Victorian - obviously there;s a bit of grey either side of the reign but when you look at Regency costume and architecture for example they clearly don't belong...

I agree with you there! It isn't about things being bad, but that tehy don't fit a particular frame.
